  • Issue management planning – The issue management plan is developed, describing the approach for issue management.
  • Identify and capture – Issues may be identified at any time by any project team member or stakeholder.
  • Analysis – The analysis and prioritisation of issues allows for effective management of the issue.
  • Resolve – The resolution will contain a plan of action that needs to be carried out to resolve the issue and possible escalation triggers.
  • Escalate – The escalation process ensures that critical issues reach the appropriate decision-making authority for resolution; in a timely manner, to avoid adverse impacts to the project.
  • Close – Upon completion of the resolution, the issue register is updated with the final results of the resolution.
  • Monitoring and reporting – Monitoring and reporting the status of issues is continuous throughout the project.
