Digital recordings of meetings
If you work for the Northern Territory Government, you must follow certain rules when recording meetings.
Before you start digitally recording a meeting, you must notify participants.
This applies to meetings held:
- in person
- via video conferencing – for example, Microsoft Teams
- via other telecommunications.
You don’t need consent from participants, but you must inform them.
These rules are required under the following legislation:
- Treasurer’s Directions – ICT policies and standards. Read more on the Department of Treasury and Finance website.
- Information Act 2002
- Public Sector Employment and Management Act 1993
- Surveillance Devices Act 2007
- Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth)
