Innovative $15.4 million STEAM Centre to be built in Katherine for Territory students

Katherine High School is set to receive a new $15.4 million state-of-the-art STEAM centre.

Territory contractors, M+J Builders will construct the facility, including purpose-built classrooms, art and music studios, with a tiered performance space.

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) learning will provide students in the Katherine Region with high quality educational opportunities with a focus on innovative employment skills.

Katherine High School is the only Northern Territory Government secondary school servicing the Big Rivers region of the Northern Territory.

“These planned upgrades to Katherine High School will provide learning environments that support, attracting and retaining quality educators, encourage students to attend school more often, and provide pathways to diverse employment pathways.” Minister for Education, Mark Monaghan.

The high-tech precinct will be the fifth STEAM facility built in the Northern Territory since 2016. Construction is expected to begin in quarter one of 2024.
