The LightSPEE3D forms the centrepiece of a new industrial research hub based at Charles Darwin University (CDU). The hub was facilitated through a partnership between the NT Government, CDU and the Singapore University of Technology and Design.

Local digital innovators will benefit from the CDU research hub and partnering with internationally recognised research bodies to increase capability in the NT. Local businesses will have access to advanced manufacturing technology to reduce production time and costs.

Manufacturing company Spee3D's new 3D printer produces materials up to one thousand times faster and at a lower cost than other machines.

3D printing uses cutting edge technology to create solid three-dimensional objects from a digital file and can create prosthetic limbs, reduce manufacturing waste to zero and reduce production costs.

The development opens new doors for industries such as the automotive and construction sectors while revolutionising manufacturing processes to develop real world applications and drive industrial development.

Remote housing construction is one area that could benefit greatly from this technology, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
