The Northern Territory Government is delivering a free Digital Futures webinar to inspire more women to take up careers in the IT and digital industry.

On Thursday 16 June 2022, our Paving the Digital Way webinar is a unique opportunity featuring female digital legends sharing their ideas, experiences, challenges and successes on how they brought their careers and technology to fruition.

Our keynotes will talk about a range of topics from STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics), to how 2 Territory girls ended up working at Google and into the world of eSports and gaming.

Ally Watson OAM received the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in January 2022 to recognise her work in promoting opportunities for women, education and training of women in technology, and advocating coding and software development among women. Ally is the founder and CEO of Code Like a Girl.

Dr Jenine Beekhuyzen OAM is futurist who believes existing structures in the technology industry must change to improve the digital landscape. Dr Jenine is the founder and CEO of the Tech Girls Movement Foundation and created the Tech Girls are Superheros campaign for schools and youth groups. A campaign that aims to mobilise the next generation of leaders.

The Territory’s own Candice Bowditch and Kristin Smith work at Google as Security Engineers.

Candice, a proud Larrakia, Wadjigan and Arabunna women, will co-present with Kristin on how 2 Territory girls ended up working for Google. Both ladies strongly believe in the power of technology to empower historically marginalised and underrepresented communities particularly those from remote areas such as the NT.
