Virtual care can help meet the health care needs of Territorians by optimising access to and quality of consumer care.

Overview

NT Health successfully implemented the Healthdirect Video Call telehealth platform for use by over 100+ specialities and services. This platform replaced several legacy applications and enables the delivery of health care services virtually to clients across the Northern Territory (NT) in a consistent format, both within NT health facilities and to clients at home or work.

NT Health has commenced the second phase of the Virtual Care Program to expand delivery of virtual healthcare services using the Healthdirect Video Call platform, where clinically appropriate.

Benefits

Key benefits of expanding virtual care include improved access to healthcare particularly for remote clients, less requirement to undertake travel to attend appointments, more choice and convenience for consumers, and overall better health outcomes.
