How we're delivering

One year on from the release of the NT Government's Digital Territory Strategy, the 2019-20 Digital Territory Action Plan PDF (4.5 MB) is the first annual refresh of digital initiatives that support the five strategic directions in the Digital Territory Strategy which are:

  1. Growing jobs and business
  2. Connecting Territory communities
  3. Building digital skills
  4. Enabling smarter communities
  5. Improving government services

View the below videos showcasing some of the initiatives of the Digital Territory Strategy.

Mobile Hotspots

The Centre for Appropriate Technology (CfAT), have installed 46 mobile hotspots throughout remote areas in the NT that extends the range of mobile services to over 30 kilometres.

As well as enhancing telecommunications in remote areas, the project has also stimulated the local economy with each hotspot manufactured in the enterprise workshop facility in Alice Springs and installed by its Aboriginal workforce.

Digital Futures

The Digital Futures events, held on the 29 May 2019 at the Darwin Convention Centre, were a key initiative in the Digital Territory Strategy's Action Plan to encourage women to consider a career in technology.

At present only around 28% of tech roles are held by women. More than 300 people attended the youth and women’s events and were exposed to never before seen augmented reality displays, digital displays, panel discussions, exhibition booths and a range of inspiring speakers. More than 80% of attendees said they learnt more about the digital world and diverse career paths from attending this event.

The 2020 event will be held at the Darwin Convention Centre on Wednesday 13 May.

Grants NT

Since Grants NT was implemented in late 2018, already more than 1,200 individuals and organisations have registered.

This system offers one place to find out what grants are available. Previously, organisations or individuals would review multiple websites to find information and could miss out on opportunities.

Grants NT is simple to use as it provides a centralised portal and reduces duplication as users can keep their information in the system to use next time. The NT Government is the only government in Australia with a full enterprise digital solution for managing all grants state wide.

These Awards recognise initiatives that make a positive and significant benefit to the Northern Territory and Territorians.
