Increase the number of electric vehicles in the NT Government fleet and install dedicated charging stations in some buildings.
As more models become available, and the capital costs decline, it is planned to increase the number of electric and hybrid vehicles in the NT Government fleet.
Dedicated charging stations will be provided at government offices to support electric and hybrid vehicles, commencing with installations at the Charles Darwin Centre and Manunda Place.
Increasing the use of electric and hybrid vehicles will enable an assessment of their effectiveness in a range of vehicle use scenarios and a comparison of their whole of life costs compared to conventionally fuelled vehicles.
2020 progress update
There are currently four Plug-in-Hybrid-Electric (PHEV) in the NT Government fleet.
Six electric vehicles will be located in the new Manunda building, where there will be dedicated parking stations fitted with quick chargers.
